FC Cincinnati cup match against Columbus Crew will draw huge attendance

After FC Cincinnati beat Louisville FC 1-0, they were matched with in-state rival Columbus Crew as part of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. This will be FCC's third straight home cup match, and it will take place Wednesday, June 14 at 7:00 PM.

The rivalry that is being called "Hell is Real" is shaping up to have a huge attendance. According to FCC's Twitter account, the team has already sold over 15,000 tickets. The team's website was so busy at 9 AM when the tickets for the rivalry went public that the site temporarily went down.

If they stopped at 15,000, the game would already have more in attendance than the Crew averages. The Crew have one of the weaker supporting groups in the MLS as they average the least amount of people per game at just 13,050. FCC, who already averages more than the Crew, have inquired about joining the MLS partially because of the hype that they have brought to the Queen City.

It was just last season that FCC set an Ohio record for the most attended soccer game when they played Premier League team Crystal Palace. With that said, the fanbase around this team is shaping up to be one of the best in the USL and possibly enough to bring the MLS its 23rd team.
