FC Cincinnati to face Chicago Fire in fifth round of the U.S. Open Cup

First it was AFC Cleveland, then it was Louisville FC, and now the Columbus Crew are FC Cincinnati's most recent victims in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

FCC's main striker Djiby Baye Fall scored in the 64' to bring the over 30,000 fans one of FCC's most memorable moments. This was the first of hopefully many games between these two rivals in what is being called the "Hell is Real" rivalry.

With the victory, FCC has advanced to the fifth round of the U.S. Open Cup. They will be playing the MLS's Chicago Fire who beat Saint Louis FC in their fourth round matchup. The Fire have notable German star Bastian Schweinsteiger, who transferred over from Manchester United.

FCC will be hosting the MLS club. While the fourth round matchup was an exhilarating rivalry, it is assumed that another 30,000 may come out for this tournament game.

FCC, who sits 7th in the Eastern Conference of the USL, beat the Crew who are fifth in the Eastern Conference of the MLS. The Fire are a much better and skilled team, sitting second in the East. The other two possible teams that FCC could have played are worse than the Fire, but beating another playoff MLS team would be huge for their own MLS bid.

The game is set for June 28 at 7:30. Nippert Stadium, FCC's current home, will host the game.
