Gold Cup: Can Team USA knock off Costa Rica for a trip to the Final?
After going 2-0-1 in their group stage, the United States Men's National Team are now in the semifinals of the Gold Cup. What's a good Gold Cup anyway if Team USA isn't breaking records anyway.
Team USA beat El Salvador 2-0 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. Eric Lichaj and Omar Gonzalez were the two goal scorer, and Tim Howard was the goalkeeper who collected the clean sheet. Team USA finally brought their guns out though. While phenom Christian Pulisic did not play, star forwards Clint Dempsey and Jozy Altidore did make their return. The #USMNT became the first team in @GoldCup history to get 3 wins from 3 different goalkeepers.— U.S. Soccer (@ussoccer) July 21, 2017

Now, at 10:00 pm EST on Saturday, July 22, Team USA will play Costa Rica with the chance to play either Mexico or Jamaica in the Final scheduled for July 26. Costa Rica beat Panama 1-0 in the quarterfinal. Panama has been the only team in the tournament to tie Team USA. The game will be held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Team USA is looking to win their first Cup since 2013, and Costa Rica is playing to try to get to the Final to win their first Cup in country history. Behind the United States and Mexico, Costa Rica is the Cup's third most successful team even without a Cup victory.
Hopefully, we get to see Tim Howard behind the sticks. Along with Howard, Team USA, led by coach Bruce Arena, should bring out their big guns yet again on Saturday. This Cup is important, and this team has the potential to win.
Also, don't mess with Jozy.
