UPDATE: FC Cincinnati to face Miami FC on Aug. 2nd
In their article concerning the rescheduled date, U.S. Soccer wrote:
"The postponed 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinal game between Miami FC and FC Cincinnati has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 2. Miami FC will host the match, which is set to kick-off at 7:30 p.m. ET, at Riccardo Silva Stadium on the campus of Florida International University in Miami."
Both teams have had to battle some of the top-tier MLS teams to get here. FC Cincinnati made national headlines with their victory over the MLS's top team, the Chicago Fire. They also had a thrilling win over the Columbus Crew which is now being dubbed the "Hell is Real" rivalry. For Miami, they toppled both Atlanta FC and Orlando City FC in their quest for their first Cup title.
Now, the winner of this game will have the opportunity not only possibly play in the Cup final, but the winner will also have the chance to host the New York Red Bulls. The Red Bulls currently sit 7th in the Eastern Conference under both Chicago and Columbus.
The three new additions for FC Cincinnati were unavailable for the game that was scheduled for July 12, and it is likely that they will be out again since FCC might have to use the 18 eligible for the match on the 12th. Regardless of their availability, FCC was already planning to sit both Austin Berry, the team's captain, and Harrison Delbridge, one of the team's best defenders.
These extra couple weeks will help FCC rest and recover which could be the biggest takeaway.
