Back to USL action for FC Cincinnati as they take on Orlando City B
What a week it's been for the Orange and Blue.
First they defeated Miami FC (and the humidity) on Wednesday in a hotly contested match in Miami thanks to another Djiby goal and Mitch Hildebrandt clean sheet to advance to the US Open Cup semi-finals. A day later it was announced that both head coach Alan Koch and assistant coach Yoann Damet were given multi-year contract extensions. And to cap off a busy week for the club Josu and Garrett Halfhill were also given contact extensions through the 2018 season.
With a return to USL play fast approaching though, it's time to turn our heads to Orlando City B. This will be the third overall meeting between the two clubs this season with Orlando holding the advantage after beating Cincinnati at Nippert in May 2-0 and drawing in Orlando 1-1 in early July.
FCC has been in a good run of form since the last of those meetings though and will look to get their first win over the Floridians this season who are in desperate need of some points (11th place, 24 points) and have drawn their last five games. FCC sits in 6th place in the USL standings with 30 points and haves games in hand on the teams on either side of them so this could be considered a must-win situation moving forward towards the playoffs.
An important note to this game is top goal-scorer Djiby Fall is suspended for one USL match, so Koch has a decision to make in who he wants to start up top. All signs point towards Kyle Greig and Danni Konig running the show and with a nearly completely healthy squad (with the exception of Tyler Polak) we should see a strong starting XI. It's set to be a big night at Nippert stadium for Fan Appreciation & FCC Anniversary night with 20,000+ tickets already sold so come be part of the history this club seem to make every week.
